Netspar operates a public-private network for studies on pensions, aging, and retirement to build links with and within pension and insurance industries, and academic organizations. It connects government ministries, supervising agencies and other civil service institutions, pension funds, pension providers, insurance companies, banks, and asset liability management companies with Dutch and international pension researchers, and Dutch universities. The company also publishes Newsflash, a digital newsletter; and Netspar Magazine, a semi-annual magazine. In addition, Netspar organizes various activities to foster the exchange of knowledge with its partners and stimulate discussion; and sponsors or facilitates select events. Further, the company endows research projects, such as data sets; and PHD student, research master, research grant, large/medium vision, small vision grant, theme, and topicality projects. Furthermore, Netspar offers research on topics, such as risk management during working life, risk management during retirement years, art of choosing, supervision of fully funded pensions, risk sharing and distribution among generations, the labor market, and heterogeneity within generations and the position of senior citizens to provide research, small vision, large/medium vision, and topicality grants. Additionally, the company provides executive training for pension and insurance professionals, and students in pensions and insurance industries with (sponsored) programs, including thematic courses, internships, MSC tracks, and thesis awards. Netspar was founded in 2005 and is based in Tilburg, the Netherlands.
