Central 1 Credit Union provides financial, trade association, and support services for credit unions, co-operatives, and other corporations in British Columbia and Ontario. The company offers liquidity reserves, and central and investment banking services; centralized cheque processing and other related payments services; electronic transaction services ranging from Internet banking to bill payment; and various lending services consisting of short- and long-term loans. It also provides government relations and legislative representation; property, bonding, directors and officers, key person, corporate errors and omissions, and insurance agency liability insurance; policy and procedures manual; interest rates and economic trends advisory; pension plan and benefits program administration; education and training program; and service and product development services, as well as commercial loan syndications. In addition, the company offers market research and planning; province-wide advertising; public relations, publications, and communications; personnel recruiting, salary administration, and employee relations; registered savings plans trusteeship and administration; and consulting, operational review, and strategic planning assistance services. Further, Central 1 Credit Union provides direct banking products, such as online, mobile, and phone banking to individual members, and small and medium-size enterprises; foreign exchange, derivatives, and other ancillary treasury services; and risk management, project management, and compensation advice services. As of December 31, 2013, it operated approximately 873 branches and delivered a range of financial services to approximately 3.2 million members. The company was formerly known as Credit Union Central of British Columbia and changed its name to Central 1 Credit Union in June 2008. Central 1 Credit Union was founded in 1944 and is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada.
